"Say Russ...do you do any guiding or instruction?" Since I get asked this just about more often than anything else, I am now offering instruction by appointment only. Depending on your needs and desires this could be anything from a "get up the Nose" basic aid overview to an advanced course in nailing, hooking or heading. You tell me where you want to go, and I'll design a course around your goals. It would be silly to try and teach a guy who wants to do the South Face of the Column as a lifes goal how to stack pins. Likewise to the climber who has done several El Cap trade routes, showing him how to set up a basic haul would be a waste of time... he wants to know the sneaky stuff.
All instruction will take place with hands on gear setting
and real world situations. Sample courses are outlined below,
but each course is built around you, the client. Before taking
any of these courses, you must be well versed in the basics of
moving on rock and have the ability to set nuts, cams, and have
a good idea of what it is you want to achieve. I will not be catering
to "mud hounds" or really bad Zion rock enthusiasts,
so leave the warthogs and mud axes at home.
